Claude Hlaiichard, the young man nearly electrocuted In tills city a few weeks ago, Is said to bo In a very critical condition at the present lime, his death being expected at no distant date. However, a change for tne worse set In Wedtic-sday evening and It became plain In a few hours that ho was losing los-ing the ground he seemed to have gained, At the present time his muscles mus-cles arc atrophying, or rotting. This Is said to be duo to the extreme electrical elect-rical shock ho received, and Is calculated calcu-lated to end in his death in a very short time. Mr. Hlanchard, the fathci, who has been here with his son for seveial weeks, left a few days ago, but 'tis said that he wis thoroughly Informed as to the possibilities of the case and left to return shortly. The particulars of this accident will no doubt be readily recalled by constant' con-stant' readers of-TiiK Hki'ijiiuoan, but for the benefit of others It may be stated that young Hlanchard while at work stringing wire for the Independent Indepen-dent telephone company came In contact con-tact with a Hercules electric light wire said to be carrying 5,000 volts. Ho fell to the ground, a distance of thlrty-IHo feet, and besides being terribly ter-ribly burned was badly crushed and bruised. Tiio accident happened fully two months ago and since that time he has been at the Hudgc & Hudgo hospital hovering between life and death. .'100 volts of electricity aro considered con-sidered fatal, and the young man's capacity ca-pacity lu hanging on to life has been marvelous.
