In less than half an hour It had rushed across tho cast bench, swopt over wholci blocks nnd torn down tho thoroughfares In that portion por-tion of tho city, leaving a wnko of mud, sand nnd debris. Just beforo tho cloudburst nn electrical elec-trical storm passed nlong tho mountain moun-tain rango, doing not loss than 12,500 damago to property of tho Utah Light & Ilallway company. About C o'clock, whllo tho olectrlcal storm was at Its height at Hear river, tho station thcro of tho company was rondered useless by being struck by n heavy bolt. Ueforo tho company had had timo to recover from that shock, word camo that tho station at Ogdcn had been struck by a second bolt, doing do-ing about 2,500 damage, tho samo amount as at Hear river. An hour later the suh-Rtntlon at Murray Mur-ray was destroyed by flro, after having been struck by lightning. It completely complete-ly destroyod tho lighting system ol thnt city, which was without lights tho remainder or the niglit. Tho damage caused by tho cloudburst cloud-burst cannot bo estimated. It will reach tho thousands. Hundreds of lawns throughout tho devastated section sec-tion nro covorod with mud and sand to a depth varying from ono to six inches. Flowor beds nro ruined, shrubs torn up, fences cither partially swept away or badly damaged, wooden sidewalks side-walks floated off on tho crest of tho Hood, cellars wcro filled with water and tho streets cut where tho torrent rushed down them. |
