Show 117 y, Oil WHY! Why Is It, neither democratic newspapers news-papers or orators have a single word to say about Frank J. Cannon's alliance with the American party? The Herald has said nothing about it. the local organ of opposition has no unkind thing to say and Judge Powers Pow-ers didn't mention It. Frank J. Can non was the democratic state leader, a man whom the members of that party swore by; his paper, the Utah State Journal, was tho hottest democratic demo-cratic organ in the state. Why Is It that his turn to tho American party excites no comment on the part of his brethren left In the lurch? Is It because be-cause this is a part of a pre-arranged plan? Did the democratic party set apart Mr. Cannon to fill this mission? Is all this silence because the democrats demo-crats believe that Mr. Cannon In the American party can do the democratic party more good than as a member of the democratic party? Everything goes to prove that this Is the proper view of the matter. Tho demociatlc papers would probably like to rejoice over this Hop of Frank's, but of course they can not do that. Republicans-should think of this matter, also that of tho demagogical utterances about Smootism, and then stick together as they never did before. be-fore. A vote for the democratic party means nothing more than a vote for the very principles you have always fought. The democrats are not out to erase from Utah politics any influence in-fluence they claim Is wrong they arc merely out to win by any scheme that presents Itself. |
