Show "If They But Knew." It is pleasant to observe new buildings build-ings going up In Logan and the county, but If a good business Is to be done In these buildings this city and county MUST seek to employ more labor at better prices. More people must be brought Into the county and less money sent out. WiJ nubr BECOME EXPORTERS not Impoit-cis. Impoit-cis. Every dollar sent away means that we aie just that much pooler: If the Cache Commercial Club, in a dcslie for social life, forgets these facts then Its excuse for existence is gone. A Commercial Club tilled with the Idea of accomplishing gieat things in a business way" can accomplish them, and the social life Is neither a help nor a haim. A club unanimous hi Its desire to accomplish things does not need a social life to sustain It, yet poichanee If it docs-have tho social, life, will accomplish the same results despite that fact. IT'S HARMONY, ONE-NESS OV AIM, UNITY OP I PURPOSE THAT ACCOMPLISHES I THINCiS. For Instance, the cdltorl calls to mind a cut lain Commeiciall Club oiganled with twenty members, i The town contained 1 ,000 souls. In' six months tho Club had grown to fifty meinbeis, a bonus of WO.OOO had been raised and a steel mill employing em-ploying :i()0 men at from S.t to $12 a day had been seen led. That club had no place to meet except in some store or bank or other business building, nor had It "club looms" six months ago, when last we heard of It. Resides locat' ing the steel mill, that same club accomplished ac-complished many other exceedingly! benollcial things for the town. The foregoing Is not tin argument I that social life In connection with a Commercial Club is detrimental. It meioly demonstrates that social life Is NOT a necessity. Many successful clubs witii a great tocial department demonstrate that the social side does not' dcstioy the usefulness of such organizations or-ganizations wheie the one central Idea, PROGRESS, is not forgotten. Logan and Cache county must get a move on It If there Is to be progress. The valley is slowly incieaslng in the number of Inhabitants but is more slowly Incieaslng in the matter of new entcrpiiscs to employ these people. Our young men and young women must go away fiom home If they are to be employed. This Is a gieat, grand, glorious countiy with a climate and advantages In various ways, but the woild doesn't know It. Our abundance of water power should at-1 ttaut manufactories and it would IF THE PROMOTERS BUT KNEW; I our superior soil and abundance of Of water should attract settlers, and , It would IF THEY BUT KNEW;! our line schools, our compaiatlvcly i inoial cities, our tip-to-date Logan should attract parents with lamilies to uiise, and these things would. It"' THEY BUT KNEW: our favorable dairy conditions should attract experienced exper-ienced and wealthy daliymcn, and they would come. IF THEY BUT KNEW: the wealth of our valley should attiact a l all road coming in this diiect Ion and It might, 1FTHEY BUT KNEW; our exceedingly favoi- abie climatic conditions should attract at-tract those looking for health and it would, IF THEY BUT KNEW; tho scenery in this north country should attract thousands of tourists who go fuitber to see less beautiful things that our mountains, canyons, stieams and Bear Lake, and It would IF THEY BUT KNEW. If Logan and Cache county Is to glow, even hold Its own, then WE MUST LET THE WORLD KNOW. We must be up and doing and when people are llnally attracted then we have something to show them. Let's work and hope for the best. |
