Show Warning Against Celibacy. At Cherry Point, Northumberland county, Virginia, Is tho grave of Iratls Anderson, who died Aug. 11, 1823, ego 44 years 6 months and 12 days. His epitaph states that: "He was worthy and esttmablo man, a Mnd neighbor, a faithful friend and a good citizen. In other relations of life ho might havo been equally praiseworthy, praise-worthy, but he died a bachelor, haying hay-ing never experloncod tho comfort of being husband and father. This situation sit-uation ho found so comfortless that in his last will he directed this stone to be placed over his remains, with an inscription warning all young men from imitating an example of celibacy which yielded no other eventful fruits but disappointment and remorse. Inscribed In-scribed at his request by his friends." |
