Show THE GRADUATES. Editoh Rkpuhlican Our attention atten-tion lias been forcibly called to an uitlclc published In the Saturday's issue of the Journal. The headline i -of which reads "Fine Work Done," W but the article itself Is very much out -of haunouy with the headline, and wo the graduating class of the Woodruff, feel that we hate been very unfairly ckiticisku and our teacher grossly libeled. Public seivants may hae many faults but dishonesty Is not a fault posessed by our beloved teacher and, as a class, we resent that accusation. "We ask no faors, but In Justice to ourselves we demand the price of our .year's twrd study. "The laborer Is worthy of Ills hire." We haven't spent our time learning "Memory Oems," but have studied the text books, that have been approved ap-proved by the County Superintendent and City Roaid and from which the examination questions were prepared. s These questions were as new to us as to the county giaduatcs, and that wo passed with some little degree of honor Is due to the careful training , of our teacher dining all the school year. The opinion of our silent ac- cuser to the contiary notwithstanding and In the name of our parents, our friends, the general public, and ourselves, our-selves, wo ask that ho or she, who In secret has sown the seeds of dishonor to humllato us In this the seeming hour of our success, openly, fearlessly, '' and manfully accuso us ; that wo may in like manner make our l make our defense. A report may bo circulated and colored with all the ' gaudy colors of the rainbow and yet bo the essenco of untruth. J The truth Is nil wo ask for and wo are willing to abide the consequences for by the truth are we vindicated. Signed by twenty-seven pupils, a list Thk Rkpuhlican lias not the time to put In type. |
