Show The Postal Scandal. Two things will be noticed In connection con-nection with the postal scandals. One Is that the wrongdoers are being suin-mailly suin-mailly dealt!) with. The man whose name lias been most conplclous-ly conplclous-ly connected with the scandals, Ma-chen, Ma-chen, Is a democrat. The politics or tlio olfendeis, however, will not be considered In the matter. All will have to go as soon as detected. Whatever What-ever punishment Is provided by the law will bo Inflicted on all or them, re-gardlcss re-gardlcss or tlio name or the President who was in otllco at the time theli connection with the departmert began, be-gan, and legardlnssor their political alllliatlons. i When President Iioosovelt returned to Washington after his recent West-ern West-ern trip and learned about the postal , frauds, he directed that an Immediate and llgld Investigation should be entered en-tered Into, and that punishment be Inflicted In every case where wrongdoing wrong-doing was discovered. The President's ordcis are being carried out to the letter by Postmaster General and his assistants. Only a few of the persons exposed thus far entered their posts during the Incumbency of President Roosevelt, but this is a consideration which will have no weight with the administration. Offenders of all sorts will be proceeded against rigorously. There will boa driving out of tilck-stcrs, tilck-stcrs, boodlcrs and incompetents which will give the country satlsfac-tlon. satlsfac-tlon. The President is In thorough earnest In the work. There can be no doubt that the same spirit Is entertained enter-tained by the Postmaster General. A clean sweep will be made or all the offenders or every sort. The promptness prompt-ness or the President In taking hold of the work and the candor which he displayed in telling of his plans please the American people. The work will be done with a thoroughness which will leave no necessity for further labor of this sort during the remaining remain-ing jeais of President Roosevelt In ofllce. |
