Mrs. Albert Jones, of l'ocatcllo, Is visiting her mother Mrs. Afllck of this city. She will return home the latter part of the week. A student of the A. C, Arthur Hanson, was operated upon at the Keogh-Wrlght hospital hi Salt Lake. He Is progressing nicely. Robert Fairbanks went to Salt Lake Monday morning to see Mr. L. L. Nunn, head of the great company erecting the many power houses throughout the West and East. Those persons who delight In going to Johnson's resort south of town may bo pleased to learn that Mr. C. E. Chrlstensen has leased the place and will run it In ilrst class shape this summer. He will serve all kinds of soft drinks, Ice-cream, cold lunches, coffee, etc., as well as confectionery. The place will be opened about May 10th. See ad elsewhere. It has been rumored that Miss Ida Appeiley will appear In tho Thatcher Stock Co. for at least one night upon Its return. This would prove a ti eat that the public would be glad to partake par-take of, and If arrangements to that end could be mado many friends of the young lady would be everlastingly grateful to the promoters. Miss Apperley has never appeared on tho local stage; why not now? There assembled at the New Jersey Academy on Saturday afternoon a most congenial company. The young ladles of tho "Domestic Science Club" of the Institution gae" a dinner In honor of the Senior class, and also hi Illustration of their progress and present pres-ent prollclcncy hi the culinary art. After a careful, critical, and somewhat some-what elaborate experimentation in the dining room at the well-served tables the guests were unanimous In their approval nnd commendation and voted the club a complete success. Rev. CIcmcnson was Invited to toast the club, which In brief, felicitous words, he did, and was followed by Prof. I.N. Smith, who used the theme, "Too full for utterance" and "brought down the house." The menu ended with the presentation of carnations as souvenirs of the occasion. Walter S. Lamoreaux has what he considers the model houses of the city on North First West. They aro built on the utility and economy plan. 'For Instance," Walter stated, "you stand hero In this doorway. There Is the stove In that corner of tho dining room and hero in this little room is the scullery. Now by reaching a little lit-tle ways you can reach the farther side of the stove, and also, back the other way, Into the scullery. It saves steps. If your meal Is not as pretentious preten-tious as it Is on some days and visitors drop in you need but to grasp the dishes, shove them Into these shelves, closo the doors and they aro In the pantry and out of sight. Who knows that you only had grapo nuts? Then by having a stove hero tho whole building can bo heated. Your parlor Is entered from the living room and both these rooms are the most desirable de-sirable In tho house, the looms you live In most. They can bo used as bed rooms by having folding-beds. Oh, I'm a utility man and nothing In tho house goes to waste. It doesn't cost a fortune to heat the places and numerous steps aro saved by the room arrangement." Thcso houses add much to the appearanco of the street, and when the lawns aro In and growing tho improvements will bo a credit to the city. New Corn Curb prlcp'10 cents. B A reception In honor of Mrs. I. N. H Smith, given by the Ladles' Mission- H ary society of tho Presbyterian church H at tho church parlors last Friday ' H evening proved a most delightful B social affair. Mrs. Smith numbers HBl among her warm friends a largo man- HHl of the best people in tho city, and In HH sending invitations, the Missionary H society sought to cover the list as M thoroughly as practicable. As a result fH the church was well filled with Lo- M gan's elite who took advantage of this H last opportunity to meet Mrs. Smith M in a public way.
