Show Paradise Fire. Saturday night, July 4th, while a dance was hi progress In tho meeting house, the dancers and people of the town were startled by a cry of fire. In the north part of town a big blaze could bo seen and people rushed to the scene, especially those who had homes In that quarter. A large barn belonging to Fred Peterson had caught the and before anyone saw it the tire had gained such headway head-way that all that could bo done was to ep It from spreading. Ilowovcr, It spread so that It consumed the pig pens and pigs, a granary, poultry, five tons of hay, fences barns and several other things. It almost reached the dwelling, but a bucket brigade kept water on the house, which atone time was in great danger. Fortunately the wind changed and the sparks went northward, whero there were no dwellings. The loss Is upwards of $500 with Insurance of $250. Provide Provi-de ntlally Mr. Petersen's horses and cows were In the pasture. Flro crackers are supposed to have caused the blaze. |
