He wob at once taken before be-fore Judge F. C. Loofuomow, wheio he mado a pica of guilty to murder In the second degree and was sentenced sentenc-ed to llfo imprisonment. Sheriff Sharp and Deputy J.ic't Corliss spent the bigger part of tho day questioning I'hll Lewis, pal ot McVey, and who was arrested with the convicted man in New Orleans. Tha evldenco against McVey was only circumstantial according to the sheriff and It Is thought tlmt nil missions mis-sions bj Lewis were the determining Influences with McVey. After sentence had been passed upon up-on him McVey was taken to tho coun ty Jail, where ho will remain until lato today, when ho will bo removed to the stato penitentiary. Now tint McVey hn3 been sentenced sentenc-ed the question of the disposition of Lewis and George II. Qulglcy, both of whom were being held as witnesses, witnes-ses, remains to bo settled. In the oent of the arrest ot Robort L. Burns, alleged to hao been an accomplice ac-complice of McVey in tho murder, their testimony will bo valuable, according ac-cording to tho sheriff. |
