Olaus Johnson,, of tho Sixth ward, died last Saturday of general debility at the age of 84. The funeral service was held In the Sixth ward meeting house Monday at 1 ojclock. Tho speakers were O. C. Jensen, Ollf I. Peterson, Bishop A. L. Shanchy, J.-A. Wldstoe, II. A. I'ederson, Fred Turner Tur-ner and Arcnt Johnson, tho latter being be-ing a son of tho deceased. A solo was rendered by August Hansen and a duet by Helen FJelstcad and August Hansen, both selections being ren dered very creditably. Most or the speakers treated upon tho life of the deceased during his early days In the church In Norway, which showed him to be a man of strong character, being honest and upright in all the walks of life. In his native land for four and a half years he furnished a home for the ciders, to whom .he was generous and kind. The deceased leaves six grown sons and one daughter, who are highly respected In the community. The six sons acted as pall bearers. Besides these his posterity numbered 46 living and 0 dead grandchildren, 14 living and 2 dead great grandchildren. His wife and fwq daughters proceeded him in death' The family emigrated to Utah In 1882 and have resided in Logan since that time. Whe the deceased de-ceased lived to a ripe old age, he will be missed by many for the cheery disposition dis-position that he always manifested. Helen, six or seven-year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Benson, died very suddenly last Wednesday, the difficulty being leakage of the heart. She had been somewhat 111 for a time, had been doctored for worms and it was not known that there was anything any-thing critical the matter. The funeral fu-neral service was held at the homo Saturday afternoon, J. T. Calne Jr., N. W. Kimball, Jos. E. Cardon, James Henderson and Bishop Thatch er offering words of consolation nnd instruction. Frank Baugh and Mrs. Jane Thatcher sang appropriate selections. selec-tions. H. J. Carlisle pronounced the benediction, and Wlllard Cranney dedicated ded-icated the grave. This little girl was very sweet, rosy cheeked, and was loved by all who knew her. The sym. pathy for the Benson family Is widespread. wide-spread. V i i Sunday evening marked tho passing of Parmenio Jackman, of the Fourth ward. Pneumonia was the direct cause of his death, but for several years he had been ailing with a com-plication com-plication of diseases that kept him confined to his bed. Mr. Jackman was but 65 years of age at his death, being born in Salt Lake City July 23, 1852. Before his Illness ho was a strong and very active man, as was his father before be-fore him. He came from a good family fam-ily and was himself a good man. A wife and family deeply mourn his departure, de-parture, though hia death m,eans the end of terrible suffering for him and a great burden to the family. Tho funeral fu-neral service will be held In the Fourth ward today at 1 p. m. Mrs. Mary Klrkup, aged 01 jears, died at her homo In the Flist ward Friday night. She had been 111 for years, and having no family or means of support had been cared for by tho county and First Ward Relief society. Tho funeral service was held in tho basement of the tabernaclo Sunday, tho speakers being J. O. Knowles, J, E. Cardon, Heber Carlisle and Bishop B. G. Thatcher. Tho invocation was offered by J. E. Wilson Jr. and tho benediction by J. A. Hendrlckson. Ricey Jones, of Mt. Sterling, aged 80 years, passed anayat his home In H Mt. Sterling Saturday morning. He H was a native of Wales but emigrated 'H to Utah and spent moro than half his life In Cache Valley ,'hls early years 'H having been spent hi the arduous life H of a pioneer. He was greatly respected M by those who knew htm well and he is H well knowu among the older people of ''H the valley. The funeral service was H held yesterday. .
