Show Peace Meeting at Hyde ParK Gay Waite Meets With a Severe Accident HYDE PARK, May 17. A very enthusiastic en-thusiastic peace meeting was held here today. The hall was well tilled and a most enjoyable time had by all. After the opening exercises the meeting meet-ing was given over to the Relief society so-ciety and the following program rendered. ren-dered. Short speeches upon the subjects of peace, love and charity, by Bishop C. O. Hyde, Geo. Z. Lamb and Henry E. IIancey; piano solo by Miss Malfra Chrlstofferson; singing by choir, "Scatter Smiles and Sunshine;" reading read-ing of peace resolutions, by Mrs. Sarah II. Seamons, which were, unanimously adopted; and singing by the choir, '"Tis Sweet to Walk With Jesus," constituted the evening's program. On Monday morning Gay Waite, a 15-year-old son of Joseph Waite of Hyde Park, rode a young animal to a headgatc to turn the water. There being no convenient place to tie the animal he wrapped the rope around his own body, giving the rope a single hitch. When the gate dropped the animal became firightened and ran, dragging the boy for half a mlle.'when the rope finally came loose from his' body. One of his arms was broken In two places and a gash six Inches long was cut In his head, besides other severe se-vere flesh wounds. He walked to the nearest house, from which he was taken 'to his home and medical aid was summond. While his injuries are severe they are not considered fatal at this time. On Wednesday evening, May 13, the ltev. Q. S. Fuller'dellvered a very interesting in-teresting lecture upon the evils of Intemperance In-temperance before a large and appreciative appre-ciative audience. A goodly number of our citizens agreed to assist the Anti-Saloon League to fight the saloon sa-loon and all of Us attending evils. Hyde Park has long been in need of a good and pure supply of water for culinary purposes. A committee is appointed which will endeavor to purchase pur-chase from Sralthfleld some springs of fine water In one of their canyons, If they can be purchased for a reasonable price. The water will be piped to Hyda Park and an excellent water system sys-tem installed. ' The Smlthfleld basketball came to do battle with our boys last Friday and were defeated badly, the score being, be-ing, Hyde Park 10, Smlthfield 7. Saturday afternoon our baseball team won a decided victory over the Richmond team, in their home town. Score: Hyde Park O.Richmond 3 The Rlchmoud boys are aroused and Jntend to show us how It Is done when they meet us again. Next Saturday the Benson ward boys will come to Hyde Park and battle for baseball honors. Hyde Parkers will put teveral hundred hun-dred loads of gravel upon the company com-pany road during tho next few. days. On Monday, May 11, the home of Horace W. IIancey was made happy by tho arrival of a ten-pound girl, tho first child In six years. Mrs. Bell Thurston, temporarily residing re-siding In Weston, spent Sunday in her homo town. There Is but little sickness in our midst at present. |
