Show Antis Still in the Fight Anti-ConsolidationistsDe- clare Themselves We, the undersigned, wish to state to the readers of Tiik Republican that the deductions published In Tiik Rki-uiilican last Wednesday and taken from the tables of legal voters vot-ers and signers on the protest against consolidation, were merely the result of clever but unavailable arithmetical arith-metical Juggling. Wishing to make the percentage of signers on the protest pro-test as small as possible, they consider as legal signers ouly the taxpayers, but compare them with the entire voting population which naturally consists of taxpayers and non-taxpayers. Taxpayers should be compared with taxpayers alone, or all the signers sig-ners with all the voting population. Thus at Lewlston, for example, 225 people signed the protest out of 203 registered voters, which is 85 per cent. According to the tables there were only 103 taxpayers that signed, that Is 39 per cent, and so the tables would have us believe that only 3i per cent of the legal voters in Lewlston had a right to protest. It is well kuown that all registered voters, whether men or women, taxpayers or non-taxpayers, have the right to vote on school matters, mat-ters, and, even If they didn't, their opinion helps make up public sentl-i sentl-i A ment and hence should be taken Into consideration, so the only per cent to be considered in Lewlston is 85, which means that 85 per cent of the legal Lewlston voters signed the protest. The example of Lewlston is typical of the whole county and so may show the general opinion throughout the county, coun-ty, that the mass of the voters are distinctly opposed to consolidation. The ami cousolldatlonlsts have decided decid-ed to fight tho case to a finish and have hired Nebeker, Uart & Kebeker as lawyers, and have everywhere found the county people ready to subscribe to pay the costs of the case, i S.
