Show Review of the Season We are now at our third ciicil; the theater has been dark for nrarl) month, everything seems tit lncllc.ue that the dramatic season of Ift07-')S It a thing of the past. We Imve had an unusually good season. :i 1 it i ! of everything In the nuisiu.il line froru minstrels toastrlnu' iii.irtft tc and In the purely drnniiiilc fnim farce nd melodrama 'oSimw .icd Shakespiiiie Septcmbi'i -.a" iht HhmIit open with an excil'iit iiinuinn porforniatiee of "All tin' Comforts of Home," which was Minn followed by the ever-welcome S.iii Lake Open company which usu ally plajs to the best rccelptsof the car. October and November were two of the most notable months of the thcatilcal year with us, for then we got three of the best musical comedies come-dies that had been given recently In New York, two plays which hud found favor In the met ropolls, "St rung, heart" and the "Heir to the Iluorali," and ono of the strongest of morlt-ru plats and most t plual of American life, " The Lion and the Mouse." It was uNo In October that Louis James brought us the "Comedy of Errors," the only Shakcsperian play of thrt season, sea-son, except for Hanford's clumsy "Anthony "An-thony and Cleopatra" In March. The two best things of the year wero probably prob-ably Florence Roberts In "Zlra" and the excellent performance ot the "Man of the Hour." Miss Roberts Is always a favorite here and In "Ira" sho had a well written, Interesting play, worthy of her talents, and one which allowed her to mount from her usual sphere of repentant Magdalen-Ism Magdalen-Ism to virtuous matrimony a most tcfreshlng sight. We were glad to see the "Man of the Hour," not only because be-cause it put us up-to-date, but because It was given oy so excellent a company and held us with such a keen Interest. There were besides the usual regular visitors, such as "Yon Yonson," "Qulncy Adams Sawyer," Josephine Deffrey, Paul Gllmore, "Arizona" and the "Holy City" all lesser lights, useful use-ful as dramatic filling but not noteworthy note-worthy In the line of the best theatrical, theat-rical, art. Perhaps the most praiseworthy praise-worthy work of the year was that done by local and visiting student companies. The four colleges of the state all did most creditable dramatic and musical work. The A. C. started with an excellent performance of the well known and ever-amusing "Pygmalion "Pyg-malion and Galatea." The 11, Y, C. then gave us "Princess Ida," an opera long to be 'remembered for Its good singing and acting The University Players gave us a Shaw farce to our great joy and delight and were followed fol-lowed In May by the H. Y. U. singers, who In Boccaccio pqualed, but did not out do, their sister school in the gen-era gen-era I excellence of their musical work. The final amateur performance, and the last of thv jearof any kind, was the two Offenbach operas sung by the A C. students which were so well done in. tl guve so much pleasure We Iiimc more than sustained our reputation reputa-tion of being a good show town. It Is otil) the poor companies that hac plajed to half.flllcd houses We still worship at the shrine of Shakespeare, even when crudely pla)ed, and a good opera or play will alwajs find us In the theater, and as for amateur com-pinieo, com-pinieo, they have seldom han any sault to find with Logan audiences.
