Show Our decent and solemn joy in the recent republican victory in Cache Is tempered by sorrow at the thought that the county Is soon to loose two such excellent servants as George God-hoy God-hoy and Joseph Knowles. They are two of the best road commissioners that the county has ever had and It has had many of Various talents. They are the victims ot the spirit of progress pro-gress which has seen fit to consolidate the county schools- They have been the pioneers In a new movement and have had to pay the price ot Its first unpopularity bv being held responsible responsi-ble for all Its present sccalled evils and none of Its future benefits. What the future of the schools will be under this system, lime alone can tell. We know, however, how the system Is regarded re-garded In other counties. A man from Weber county expressed himself In this wise to us one daj: "I fought consolidation con-solidation tooth and nail when the Idea was first brought up. Hut now I sec the benefits of the sjstem, for it has saved our county this year at least $1,000 In book supplies alone." The same benefit will soon come to Cache and wc shall owe It to the foresight of these men. We aree also indebted to them for the now roads they have have opened, the old ones they have Improved and thefatthful services they have rendcred.whlch more than outweigh out-weigh the salary they have received. |
