Show I School For Parry Site Olsen and Mathews Withdraw Bid Pursuant to notice aiTpubllshed in the paper, the Board of Education of Logan City tbet at their office on the evening of June 20 and opened the bids for the erection of a school building; build-ing; on the Parry site. There was only one bid filed, that was by Olson and Mathews for the sum of $21,434. They I were Riven until the next day to look Into the legal phase and to decide upon up-on some form of agreemeat or contract con-tract that might bo satisfactory to both parties. After Investigating the matter more closely they too decided that technically their bid was Illegal and withdrew It. ' On the next day, July 1 the following follow-ing communication was received from Worley and Kelson: To the Honorable Board of Education of Logan City: I Gkktlkmkk Inasmuch as we have concluded that advertising for the bids for the construction1 of a school building has not 'relieved the proposition propo-sition of any of the objections which ' could have been justly or legally made before such advertisement took place, we do not deem it expedient or proper to submit to you any bid for the construction con-struction of said building. However, we hereby make you tru following proposition: If you will make and d Jlver to us a good and sutflcleqf conveyance con-veyance of the slt upon which hj school building should be located, said AN site to have a frontage of 14 rods and to be 17 rods, deep for the consideration considera-tion of 13,000 we will erect upon nald site a school building according to the ' plans and specifications already pro vided by Monscn & Sohaub.archttccts, and complete the same on or beforo the 15th day of October of the present year, and we will then lease said site and building to the School Board for school purposed for a period of from one to four years, at the annual rental of $1350. We will also give you the privilege privi-lege of buying said site and building for the ium of 124,000 payable In such installments as may be agreed upon, Dated this 20th day Of June, 1908. WOBLEV & NKLBON The board looks upon this as the best and only solution of the problem. The property has been sold to Worley and Nelson and they will erect the structure according to plans and specifications speci-fications and the Board will be given the privilege of buying the building either by Installments or otherwise for the sum of $21,000 together with the selling price of $3,000 on or before the expiration of the four years. |
