Show THE WEST TO FURNISH FRUIT Eastern Industry en Decline--Pref. Nerthrtp Returns. For several years Professor It. S. Northrop of the Agricultural College faculty has been makiog regular yearly year-ly eastern trips to study fruit conditions condi-tions throughout different sections. Professor Northrop Just returned from one of these investigation trips Thursday and brings back the news that fruit culture Is gradually on the decline In sections where fruit has been the leading Industry. As this condition is growing worse and worse in the east, the professor says the frOlt Industry In the west Is correspondingly corres-pondingly Improving. He Is of the opinion that within a very few years the west will be looked tofor the furnishing of all the fruit for the larger markets. At present considerable of the western product can bo found on eastern markets while eastern sections are unable to meet the demand of even the smaller sized cities. This condition is brought about by a lacklof interest in this particular line of agriculture. This prevailing condition of affairs 03mlng from such go6d authority should give new courage and hope to the many promoters of orchards In Cache Valley as when the trees begin be-gin to produce their crops there will be an ever ready sale. Professor Northrop was called to Clearfield yesterday to advise the orchardlsts there on a certain disease In that vicinity known as Rosett due to poor soil conditions. 0 |
