Show FISHBURN ON CONSOLIDATION. In another column Hon. R. L. "Fishburn, of Box Elder county, expresses himself heartily In favor of the consolidation plan for county school districts, and ho gives reasons why ho favors consolidation. His reasons arc good, and his expressions in regard to this matter are worthy of special consideration from the fact' that Mr. Fishburn Is a man of more than average ability who Investigated consolidation before it was Instituted In Box Elder county and since that time has been connected with the active management of the consolidated districts. Ho takes no stock in opposition to progress, feeling that prejudice and personal advantage or disadvantage plays such a prominent promi-nent part with kickers against progressive action ac-tion that the only thing to do is to act without them and prove them wrong. He recalled the very intense opposition to the consolidation of the four districts In Brlgham City, and noted the present jublilatlon at the success that is now attendant upon the city schools operated under consolidation. Had consolidation waited until the overwhelming majority were In favor of it there would be no consolidation today, just as with county consolidation In Box Elder. Ttic plan was adopted In the face of Intense opposition, but Mr. Fishburn says "there Is always opposition." This fact Is always to be lemembered opposition In any Instance seldom falls to be heard. Friends of a proposed action are seldom so assertive. . |
