Show Heavy Storm Hits Franklin FRANKLIN, IDAHO, August 7, WOO. Everything U quiet and everybody every-body trying to observe the Mormon creed, which Is: "Mind your own business" Times arc rather dull at present, considering the time of the year Tho farmers are now Just commencing com-mencing cutting their grain and soon labor will be In demand, as grain Is ripening very fast. It seems that up this way tho harvest Is going to be great and laboreis are few. Some have commenced cutting their second ciop of luccrn already. ' Last Sunday was Fast day and we had a good meeting. There was a good many present, hut while we were having a good time inside some of our farmers wero having a bad and stormy time outside. Hetween three and four o'clock we had a very heavy rain storm, which came from the north-west. Thunder and lightning and hall and heavy wlndi camo which did thousands thou-sands of dollars worth of damage. Gialn was I lown flat on the mound j and In many places wheat was ham-. ham-. mered all to threads. Garden truck, 'such as corn, cabbage, beans, and In 1 -M fact all kinds of vegetables, was hammered ham-mered all to pieces, and a great quantity quant-ity of fruit was blown to the ground. Indeed, wc can not estimate the great damage that the storm has done Thousands of dollars worth of grain is ruined, which Is a great loss to many of our farmers. There Is still u little Improvement going on In old Franklin. We have our water system In good running order and a great many are having It on their premises and In their houses. Now tho Electric Light Company Is stringing poles In our streets and soon light will appear In Franklin, and when light appears old Franklin will emerge from darkness, and will arise and shine In all Its glory. There are good men and women living among us, tho perhaps some of us are not so very good, there is enodgh of the good to Keep lis who are not so good In the straight road.
