Show RiGhmond, Queen of the North All the Doings in the Big Town Socials, Marriages, Sickness, Visitors, Etc, UICIIMOND, August 21, 1000-Car. rlo Justejison and Annie Gregorn, two young ladles from Nebraska, and the three Allen sisters, from Arizona, arc guests of Mrs. John McCarrcy. Last Friday the hostess gave a novel party In their honor. The girls named It the ".Jubilee" and rodo to the McCarrcy farm on a hayrack, the same being decorated with sunflowers and holly-hocks In a very attractive manner. The party was composed of seventeen comically dressed young ladles whose heads wcro full of fun. This was splendidly proven by the parade they made and the open air concert and program they gave and tho mirthful time they had, all of which mado the "Jubilee" a perfect success. May McCarrcy was chosen Marshal of the Day, Tyra ChrlstolTor-scn, ChrlstolTor-scn, as Goddess of Liberty, Ida Harrison Harri-son as leader of tho band, and Julia Hrlght as leader of the choir. All made great hits. The following program pro-gram was rendered: Music by band; singing "America" by choir and congregation; con-gregation; The Pioneers of '1)7, Lizzie Doty; "A Peaceful Cow" Prlscllla Allen; Al-len; Music bv the band; oration. Marian Mari-an Hendricks; Uncle Sam, Melissa McCarrej; quartette, Chloe llumham, Ida Harrison, Julia Hrlght, Lorcna Fisher. Tne last number took so well that the toung ladles had to respond to an encore. This they did by singing sing-ing tho following song, written for the occasion: There Is a time in each year That we all hold so dear When out to McCarrey's we go, We ride on a lack, Heaped up In a stack, And make a very good show, We are happy and gay, And all like to stay-As stay-As far up the mountain we climb. With sunflowers and holly We're always found Jolly In the good old summer time. Riding down McCarrcy 's lane ' With our friends in line, Wu hold our hats and horses, too, And that's a very good sign We are going to McCarrey's In the good old summer time. After the program the girls sat down to a bounteous repast of bread and milk, llavoicd with toasts and recitation. In the evening several young ladles who were unable to attend at-tend In the daytime and the boys Joined the crowd In playing games, consuming refreshments and having a very good time until early In the morning Richmond people should bo congratulated congrat-ulated in securing a berles of attractions attrac-tions to be presented in the hall this winter. Tho Midland Lyceum Bureau is the name of the company which has the work In charge and the following llvo attractions will bo presented here, one each month commencing with October: Thos McClary In "Mission of Mirth;" Marshal Choate Crouch in "Tho Simple Life;" Mrs. William Calvin Chilton, Monodrumlst; Royal Male Quartette (Includes Trombone Quintette; Midland Opera Quartette, live people. All here will remember the great success of the Primary Association In presenting the cantata "Jack the Giant Killer" not long ago. In the near future another charming cantata entitled "Father Time" will be given. The little tots under the direction of Mrs. A. A. Thomas, Llzle Webb and tho other olllcers of the primary are working hard rehearsing their parts. A real surprising treat Is promised us by them In tho very near future. Fred Schow has Just received word from Washington D. 0. that he Is to bo ready to take up his work as teacher in the Philippines as soon as possible. Mr. Schow wired that ho would be ready to leave Sept. 1st. He expects to be away two years and dur ing this time ho will no doubt show tho people something new In the teaching line. Another of our boys has filled an honorable mission and returned home. Ho Is Roy A. Lewis, who labored since April tflOj In the North Texas Conference. Con-ference. Roy returns In excellent health and spirits and reports having done successful work In the ministry of the gospel' and made many friends for Mormonlsm. Albert Anderson and John K. Anderson, And-erson, of this place, have Just been awarded a large painting contract in Franklin, and left hero Monday morning to commenco the work. The gentleman are deserving of this Job and will do Justice to It as they have done much good work In Richmond. ApostleC. W. Penrose was a visitor to Richmond Saturday and Sunday nights, returning homo Monday morning. morn-ing. He was accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Clark Whitney, Ids daughter and son-in-law. A. 15. Harrison, manager of tho Dcs-cret Dcs-cret Mills at Logan, came up with his wife and little one to spend a day or two with their parents and returned return-ed home Monday. Ray Stagg.of this place, and Martha Petersen, of llenbon, were married last Wednesday In Ogdcn. The happy hap-py couple will make Ogdeu their home for the present. Mrs John Stocks, Mrs. Eliza Harbci and Mrs. Margaret Hogan, of Bountiful, Bounti-ful, returned home last week after visiting with their cousin, Mrs. Harriett Har-riett Fisher. Forthellrst time In a good many years the entire family of W. II. Hum-ham, Hum-ham, of this place, were together at tho Iluruham gathcrlng'at Logan last week. Misses Amy and Dorothy Uowman, of Salt Lake, and Mrs. George Smith, of Logan, sister of Mrs. A. A. Thomas, spent Sunday here with Mrs. Thomas. Ernest Monson, who has been very ill with rheumatism, Is Improving greatly, J. W. Funk went to Salt Lake Sunday Sun-day morning, returning on Monday night. Mrs. Adamson spent Friday last In Ogden. |
