The rails are now laid to a point about one mile north of town and a large foice of men Is still laying the rails. At the present rate of progress the load will be completed to Mendon within three weeks. The southend people will .not kick If It's completed even beforo that time. We have waited long and worked hard for some kind of railroad service and now as It seems nearer an assured fact that we are actually going to get a road wo are anxious to sets the cars running. Elder David Kerr leaves tomorrow morning to till a mission to Europe. On Saturday ovcnlng tho "Pavilion Company gave a benefit dance for him for which over one hundred tickets .wcio sold. Mr. Kerr was piesented with $50. On Sunday evening, at tho meeting house, Bishop E. R Owen presented Elder Kerr with about $9:, this In behalf of tho Wellsvlllo ward. A. of Wellsvllle ward was reorganized tonight with the following olllcers: John H. Woodward, Wood-ward, president; Georgo J.Haslara, 1st councilor; Robert L. Alexander Spence, of the Sun-, Sun-, day Schools of the Hyrum Stake, with m Alt Smurthwalte, a moral-.r of tho ' Stako board, went to Paradlsa today to organize a Parents' class In that ward. Murray, who Is on a mission In Europe, Eu-rope, had a very pleasant surprise sprung upon her Saturday evening by the members of the family and a number num-ber of her friends. This being the anniversary an-niversary of her 40th birthday they gathered In on her and a very pleasant jvenlng was spent. She was presented with some beautiful presents. Mrs. Hendry, and daughter Mary, of Ogden, are visiting their many friends and relatives in our town. Mabel and Mary Leatham went to Paradise today to visit relatives and friends. |
