Show Good Lecture. Dr. W. U. Parkinson's lecture under the auspices of the Juvenile Court, given at tho court house Wednesday evening, was listened to with rapt attention at-tention by an audience of bovs that practically llllcd the courtroom. He touched upon tho duty of tho boys to their parents, and Instead of talking at tho boys, talked with them, showing them kindly how much they owo to those who take care of them daily. Dr. Parkinson tried to convince the boys that they should show a loving kindness to their parents, pa-rents, being ready at all times to relieve re-lieve them of tho smaller burdens that aro a part of dally life. Inasmuch as the parent gives his ton three meals a day, provides clothing for him, gives him tho opportunity of going to school and furnishes him books, papers and magazines to read, gives him money to spend for his own peculiar pleas ures, Is It fair that tho boy should let his father split and carry In tho kindling kindl-ing wood, keep the coal buckets filled, carry out tho slops, feed the horses and cattle all the time, build the Arcs of a morning und do tho hundred and one chores that aro to bo dono dally? Dr. Parkinson expressed confidence In tho boys' sense of fairness and put It squarely up to to them on that basis. Should tho parent be expected to work hard dally to supply his children with their necessities and they not show a little appreciation In return? Tho bojs seemed to appreciate the Ideas presented and listened very attentively. attentive-ly. During the evening a mandolin and guitar club furnished the music. Tho next lecture will bo given on Wednesday, Wednes-day, January 2.1, and muslo will bo furnished by some of tho Juveniles. |
