Harretl, Inspector of electric wiring, reported having examined 71 homes with (137 wire outlets. The report re-port was referred. Flro Chief Henson reported two tires during the quarter, one from an overheated stove, the other caused by an electric wire. F. K, Plowman asked permission to hang metal electric signs In front of the Oak saloon and tho opera house. The petition was icfcrrcd to tho committee com-mittee on Sidewalks with power to act. Olif I. Peterson, city water master, reports a total of (HO water users at present. Tho total assessment for the year, lOCl, was $1,500. There Is a grand total of 11,1(38 feet of water mains. Marshal Peterson's report showed six arrests for assault and battery, three for drunkenness, one for disturbing disturb-ing the peace, one for keeping a gambling gamb-ling house, one for lighting, one for maintaining a nuisance. Mrs. Lucinda Flnlayson represents to the council that the contents of a cesspool constructed on tho premises of Ilyrum Crockett percolate through the soil Into her well and cellar but twenty feet distant and asks that "the nuisance" be abated. City Justice I'cdcrsen reported fourteen four-teen prisoners brought I1U0 coutt during the quarter, with twelve convictions con-victions and two acquittals. Two cases have been appealed to tl.o District court, theso being the case of Logan City vs. Henry Reese, lined $50 for keeping a gambling house; tho other being that of Logan City vs. S. A. Langton, local manager of tho Consolidated Implement Co, who was lined $50 for doing business without with-out a license. There was a grand total of $47.50 lines collected. Supervisor Hlanchard's report shows about 800 In this city liable to polltax. One hundred and three owe the amount, and this Is left for the county attorney to collect by process of law. During the year the polltax has graded one-half block In the First ward, two and one-half blocks In the Third ward, one and one-half blocks In the Fourth, one and one-fourth In the Fifth, one and onc-thlrd In tho Sixth, two and one-fourth In the Seventh', and a little work has been done generally over tho city. Tho council adjourned to meet Monday Mon-day evening at 7:30 o'clock. |
