Show During the past few years not less than $100,000 has been spent in the various settlements to se6ure pure water for culinary purposes, and In Logan there has been a general extension exten-sion of water mains Into sections where surface wells furnished the supply sup-ply heretofore. It has been discovered discover-ed that much sickness and many deaths In past years must be attributed attribut-ed to the Impure water from wells, and It is very gratifying that the public pub-lic generally is now alive to the abso" lute necessity of good water. While these improvements In Logan and the settlements were being made many grumbled at the taxes and expense attendant in securing the needed pure water, but It is a matter of fact that after their houses were supplied and they understood the advantage gained, the grumbling changed to expressions of pleasure, and few, If any, would now be willing tc go back to the old condition con-dition This Is true of sidewalk paving. pav-ing. When this idea was tlrst started, there was an awful loar, but now there are a large number of petitions for walks each year, and none would give up the walk they now have. These walks have greatly enhanced the value of property Just as pure water in the homes make the health more certain. The spirt of public Improvement should meet with hearty reception rather than opposition. |
