On H Thursday of last week tlie Wellsvllle 9 Dramatic company presented tlio M very excellent drama entitled "The Vm Moonshiners Daughter," with a cast of characters as follows: I, - John Martin Thomas Hrenchley Ed Djer Thomas U. Thorpe Mr. Dearborn Walter Jones Tom Logan John I'oppleton Rastus (a negro) R. Thorpe Tatters Jennie Lclshman Melissa Nellie Ilaugh Daisy Nettle Wyatt There were specialties between acts H and altho the players arc amateurs, H few traveling troupes that visit our M city do much better. With a little H practice our home talent could play as good as any of them. H There was a good audience and H every one enjoyed the play. VVe trust they will give us some more good plays B (n the future. Religion Classes. Ej Last Saturday evening the religion jj class of our ward had a splendid meet- H fng in the meeting house. A fine prc- H gram was rendered, consisting of ice tures, songs, recitations etc. Every part of the piogram, from the opening singing and prayer clear through to the benrdlctlon, was well performed by the boys and girls who are mom-Mi mom-Mi Tbcrsof that organization. James H. M Hall, the ward president, and his as-MB as-MB slstcnts and the teachers arc justly REj pioud of the effort they have made to make that organization a success. J. A. Brown, one of the assistants who has charge of the musical department, has one hundred boys and girls drilled in j the art of singing, and they give so.r.e H very good selections. George II H Rradshaw, stake president, with Jos- I epli H. Woodward and Christian Sor- H enson, Ills counselors, arc working H hard to make religion class work a ffi success In every ward of the Hyrum H stake ana wc believe they will not be disappointed. A Hustler. Rl Thomas S. Bradshaw has erected a Rj commodious house In the nortli part Hi of our city. Mr. Haldwln has had to close up Ills business, as our city fathers raised the lliiuor license to its limit, and many of our citizens who were addicted addict-ed to the liquor habit have reformed Under these clrcum'tances It does not pay to run a saloon In Wellsvllle, altho at one time we had two of them running full blast. Thomas I'oppleton, who has been conllned to his home with a broken leg, Is down with typhojd fever now, and altho he has been very bad wo are pleased to say that he Is Improving. The railroad grade Is about finished and work on the depot ground Is now being pushed. The ralhoad company Is going to run a train from Wellsvllle to take the people to conference. On Monday evening citizens of our town met to consider the Idea of getting get-ting more water for our city. A committee com-mittee was appointed to look the thing up. The Y. M. and Y. L. M. 1. A. are going to give a grand ball with refreshment re-freshment accompaniment In the pavilion pa-vilion on Friday evening. Job Mcllor, who went through an operation some time ago at tho Budge Hospital, Is improving very nicely. Charles It. Bailey Is stilling Improving Improv-ing and we hope he will soon be seen on our streets again. |
