Show HARRIET ELKINS LAID TO REST Was A Hyde Park Lady Of Prominence. Operation onSuel Lamb. Other News Items. IIYDB 1'AItIC, May l!.!.-Funeral services over tho remains of Harriet Klkln were held In the meeting house today at 2 o'clock. A large crowd of friends of tho deceased assembled to pay a tribute of respect and to show the esteem In which she was held. Ilcautiful and appropriate hymns wcio sung by the choir, and Wm. Scamons, Reuben Pcrkcs, Joseph Knowlcs. L. Petersen and Charles G. Hyde each spoke of the many virtues and noble character of tho deceased. She was of a cheerful disposition and was never so happy as when doing good to others. She was never blessed with children of her own, but was a great lover of them. Tho poor In purse.she was rich In those qualities that go to make an acceptable child of God. The remains were' Interred In the Logan cemetery beside her husband, who died many years ago. Rest In peace, thy sulfcrlng Is o'er, Sorrow and death can claim thee no more:" Personal Mention. Our honorable townsman, Suel Lamb was operated on for hernia, In Logan the 14th Inst. Though past 70 years of age, the patient rallied nicely and at this writing Is said to be getting along tine. He is a man of great faith, vitality ami grit, and we expect to see him home In the near future. Director Wm. l-'ollct, of tho Logan and Richmond canal, had a good force of men and teams out the tlrsL of the week, and gave the canal a good cleaning clean-ing out. It Is expected that the new splllgatc, put In by James Hanccy & Sonr, will be tested tills week. During the last few days the Hell Telephone has put Instruments Into the homes of Fred and W. Ilallara, S. Hurgess, Hans Jensen, George Lamb, Reuben l'erkcs and Kzra Seamons. Pros. Willard Maughan and John E. Carlisle, of the Cache stake, occupied the stand at the afternoon meeting on Sunday. C Johnson has gone up to the SnaKe River country to visit his daughter, Mrs. N. Jensen. Samuel Hurgess Is very sick with spotted fever, said to be caused by tick's L. Hill, of Logan, Is building a tine brick house for Lars Chrlstensen. |
