Show TO BOOST FOR UTAH. The manager of the Manufacturer's and Meiohants' Association recently Incorporated In this state for the purpose pur-pose of "boosting home- Institutions," asks that tlic press or the state glc the association favorable mention as frequently as possible. Tnj IIki-uiiij-oan has lieretofoio written of this organization, datailing its advantages to this state If It fs conducted along broad lines, but up to this time, in all references to the organization appearing appear-ing In the Salt Lake publications, It has not been made apparent that tlic ptomoters view any territory outside of Salt Lake city limits as being within with-in the State of Utah. If the association associa-tion Is whole hearted In this business and will give evidence of that, The Uki'Uiimoan will use much space to encourage hearty co-operation on the part of the pcoplo of Cache Valley. The development of the State outside of Salt Lake city means morn to that city than any development within the city limits and for all concerned it Is hoped that tills fact may not be lost sight of. The Association lias for Its motto, "Western Goods for Western I'eopie," and this In a measure defines the purpose pur-pose of the organization. 1 1 proposes to Interest tho people of Utah In Utah productions by advertising tho merit of the home product. If the farmer can get a plow made la Utali that answers his purpose well and at no greater cost than the eastern plow, by buy tho foreign product? If Utah-made Utah-made clothing, boots and shoes In as good quality and at as low price can bo purchased, why not give these the picferenceover the foiclgu product? Why buy eastern or western condensed milk when we have two great condensed con-densed milk factories In Cache Valley? Why buy foiclgn knit goods when We have four splendid knitting factories In Logan? Why buy anj thing out of Utali that can be produced to advantage advant-age here? In many Instances the Utali product Is as acceptable In every respect as the eastern product and Is as low In price but tho Utah manufactures manu-factures aro not advertised as the eastern goods The Manufacturer's and Merchants' Association proposes to assist the home Industry to advertise adver-tise Its goods properly. It proposes to stir Up such Interest in the homo Industry In-dustry that the buying public will at least Inquire and for Investigate the home product lirst. The move Is a good one. Kvery manuracturcr should boa member or tho association and every retail dealer should Iwglad to push any homo product pro-duct In prerorence to the foreign. Thi State Association does'not want to foiifei that In Cache Valley there are a number of "homo Industries" that nerd and arc worthy of advertisement |
