Show . A; C Orators Win Debate. The great inter-collegiate debate took place at the B. Y. college Saturday eveding. before be-fore a large and enthusiastic audience. The question was: "Resolved, that the white people of the south are justified in using any peaceable means in maintaining main-taining their supremacy over the negro." Leon B. Stoddard and Walter Porter of the Agricultural Agri-cultural college supported the affirmative, and E. VV. Pehrson and John Godfrey of the Brig-1 ham Young o!lege, the nega-j tive. All four young gentlemen gentle-men made eloquent addresses, advancing many points in favor of the.r respective positions- The judges were Hons. Moses Thacher, C. H. Hart and J. C. Walters, and they awarded the At tne conclusion ot the tie-bate tie-bate the judges retired for consultation, con-sultation, after which Hon. Moses Thatcher reviewed the arguments and presented the decision which was as follows: A. C. 84 and a fraction; B. Y. 78 and a fraction . The addresses showed great native talent and hard-study on the part of the four contestants.
