A meeting ot tho directors In the Pleasant Grovo Canning Company was held early In the week and voted to purchaso canning machinery formerly purchnsed from tho Provo Bench plant by tho Pleasant drove Fruit Growers' Association. This machinery represents an original orig-inal expenditure of over $7,000 and Is In first-class condition. At, tiro samo meeting tho directors voted to purchaso pur-chaso the tract having a 150-foot frontngo on tho Salt Lake Itouto and lying directly north of the Utah Fruit Growers' warehouse. Tho consideration considera-tion was $400. Plans 'wero also laid for commencing commenc-ing the erection at an early date of the building in which tho factory will be located. A meeting to be held tonight to-night will tnkc more definite action on the mattor, but It is probablo that work on tho structure will bo started Monday. It will be of brick and concrete con-crete nnd will bo 60x70 feet. It will bo as nearly fireproof as possible and will cost approximately $3,000. , It will bo so constructed that another unit may be added at any time. The commltteo commenced Thursday Thurs-day to collect tho amounts that had been subscribed for, which amount to over $5,000. It will also solicit nnd secure additional capital. The amount subscribed so far Is all local money, but nn effort will bo mado to get some outside hcljS. It is the present Intention to rush work on tho building in ordor to take' fcaro of the heavy apricot crop, which will mature next month. |
