Show EXTERMINATING WEEVIL Provo, Juno 4. What is claimed to bo a euro method of exterminating the nlfnlfn weevil has been discovered and applied by A. B. Johnson of this city. A llvo-acro lucern field owned by Mr. Johnson situated In the southwestern part of the city treated by the Johnson method Is now said to bo entirely free from weevil, and Mr. Johnson believes It will reinntu In this condition unless weovll come from other fields noxt season. In his opinion the treatment If generally and throughly applied will rid the stnto of the weevil. Tho remedy is cheap nnd easy of application. It Is to dissolve three pounds of arseunto of lead In tlfty gnl-Ions gnl-Ions of water and thoroughly spray or sprinkle the Held with the mixture after tho lucern Is (Irst cut, which should bo early, nnd before the usual time for cutting. Mr. Johnson applied It on his Held, which was badly Infected, In-fected, about two weeks ago, when he cut the lucern, using four fifty-gallon barrels to the acre, and now he says there Is not a traco of weevil. |
