Show Knowledge of Holiness. While an unconsciousness of sin may not bo proof of absolute freedom from Us in-being, yet It is a blessed evidence of some gracious fact, when one who has long and oft been conscious of uprisings, up-risings, disturbances, Inward friction and division in tho realm of tho tempers, tem-pers, the affections, the desires of the will, la no longer conscious o'f such facts, even under circumstances of dreadful occasion and temptation, but is, on tho other hand, conscious of S deep, all pervading peace, purity, patience pa-tience and a forgiving, tender spirit. We say the unconsciousness of sin and the consciousness of something very different from sin and from ourselves In times of trlnl and at all times certainly cer-tainly evidences, at least, tho expulsive expul-sive power of a new affection. |
