Show Cindy Chamberlain, 4-H Community Leader Delux service activities has not been the only advantage of 4-H. "I have also grown in my ability as a homemaker. I've prepared 491 meals over the past eight years and recorded 2,321 separate dishes in my record book. Some of these have gone to shut-ins at Christmas," she said. "The 4-H motto is "To Make the Best Better." I think it applies ap-plies to any person. This motto has given me the incentive I've needed in past years to always do my best," she concluded. Selection for the Chicago award trip is based on 4-H experiences ex-periences in projects, activitiers, leadership, personal development develop-ment and growth in community and civic responsibilities. In all 1,600 delegates will be attending the Congress, representing every state in the U.S. CINDY CHAMBERLAIN "I guess I'm just a person who likes a challenge--and the 4-H program has handed them to me, beginning with making cookies," commented Cindy Chamberlain. Cindy, 17, the daughter of Royce and Alene Chamberlain of Cedar City, is one of 22 Utah 4-H'ers 4-H'ers to win a trip to Chicago for the National 4-H Congress Nov. 30 - Dec. 4. "From the first batch of 4-H cookies to more mature activities ac-tivities such as chairing special committees and attending leadership conferences, I have felt my 4-H experiences have been helping me to grow as a citizen," she stated. The Cedar City youth won the trip to the Congress for achievement. One of these achievements has been the community pride program. She helped initiate and accomplish putting flower planters on the main street in Cedar City-planting 12 of the planters herself. "This project showed the citizens of our community what youth could accomplish," she added. Cindy feels that growth in |
