Show 1 Plane crash claims Milford doctor In a tragic plane crash Sunday Sun-day about 44 miles east of Spanish Fork, Dr. Eugene N. Davie, 57, long-time medical practitioner in Milford, met his death- Dr. Davie was flying his own twin engine plane when shortly after take-off from the Spanish Fork airport his engines stalled while turning and he crashed. He was alone at the time. The son of Clyde and Ruth Draper, he was bom in Stillwater, Still-water, Okla., October 26", 1916. He entered the University of Oklahoma at the age of 16. He was a veteran of the Navy, serv-Ing serv-Ing seven years, and attained the rank of Commander. He began his practice of medicine in Farmington, N. M. where he married Rosemary George on June 4, 1949, moving to Milford in August of 1950, where he practiced for 24 years. He started working as Chief of the Emergency Room at the Utah Valley Hospital. Provo in December. 1969. He has been instrumental in setting up Utah Rural Medicine Clinics and was to be the pilot for the Western States, extending his practice to Hanksville, Castledale, and Draggerton. He also gained prominence through his mining activities and in later years hs activity in promoting Geothermal Power. Pow-er. He is survived by his widow Rosemarry; five children, Jeo- rgann. Marc, Gina, Craig, and Rose Marie: his mother and stepfather; two brothers, Rich-ard Rich-ard and Dr. Victor Davie; two sisters, Bonnie Owens and Doris Hanks. Services were held Thursday, December 6. at the LDS Church under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary. Milford. Burial was in the Milford City Cemetery. A memorial fund has been set up by the Metcalf Mortuary, which can be sent to Metcalf Mortuary in Milford, or Metcalf Southern Utah Mortuary in Cedar City. |
