SUSC moved out to an early seven point lead and looked as if they had control of the game. But Grand Canyon kept bouncing bounc-ing back and throughout the whole game, the lead gee-sawed back and forth with no one really taking command. With about one minute left in the contest, SUSC held a slim one point lead and had possession of the ball, but a steal and an easy lay-in gave Grand Canyon the lead at 57-56. SUSC again with the ball and an opportunity to take the lead, missed their shot and had to commit the foul for another an-other chance. With seven seconds sec-onds remaining, Hightower, the games leading scorer, sank two free throws and put it out of reach for the T-Birds. The T-Birds now travel to California where they will meet Pasadena College in San Diego on the 14th and Azusa Pacific in Azusa on the 15th. The T-Birds will be looking for a couple of victories during dur-ing the weekend in hopes of gaining a little momentum for the Color Country Tournament here in Cedar City on Dec. 28 ' and 29. Teams competing in the annual classic will be U.S. International University, West-minster, West-minster, and University of Red-lands. |
