Show We have it rough? Take look at France By Syd Ramsaur We motorists think we have it rough. Pity the poor Frenchman who must curtail his driving to eighty miles per hour. Two years ago when the energy crisis hit the whole world, nations tried to cut down their gasoline consumption. France was hit rather severely by the crisis so while the United States had to crawl along at fifty-five miles per hour, the Frenchman had to slow down to eighty-seven miles per hour. Their government govern-ment still felt the fuel pinch so this year the French motorists have been ordered to slow down to the new speed of eighty miles per hour. May we offer them our condolences and exchange passports. |
