Parowan Air Strip gets whitewash PAROWAN Memorial Day 1974 was a perfect day for Air-marking Air-marking the Parowan City Airport in Parowan. Ladies from the Las Vegas Valley Chapter and the Salt Lake Chapter of the 99's (An. International In-ternational Organization of Licensed Women Pilots) flew into Parowan and airmarked the runway with the name Parowan, and the radio frequency, 122.8. Within four hours they had marked and painted the 30 foot letters and started feeling a touch of sunburn in the 85 degree weather. After the airmarking the Chamber of Commerce in Parowan treated the ladies and their guests to a barbeque beef dinner at the city park. By 4 p.m. all the ladies had departed for their home base. |
