AFR0TC cadets visit Air Force Base Air Force ROTC cadets from Southern Utah State College and Dixie College recently were privileged to visit Lowry AFB near Denver, Colorado. The cadets traveled by bus to Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, Nevada, and then boarded an Air Force T-29 aircraft for the flight to Denver. The base visit included briefings and guided tours of all the major installations on the base. The cadets were particularly par-ticularly impressed with the TV production studios, the photo science school and the munitions loading school. Many of the cadets were privileged to enter the aircraft and mock-ups of both SAC and ADC aircraft which are used to train airmen in munitions loading procedures and techniques. Lowry AFB is part of the USAF Air Training Command. Each year approximately 15,000 students are graduated from more than 200 courses taught in avionics, aerospace munitions, armed forces intelligence, supply and procurement, and photography training. Lowry also provides support for 12 tenant organizations including the nearby Air National Guard base at Buckley Field where the cadets landed in their T-29. Base visits of this type give the cadets an opportunity to see what Air Force life is really like and what may be expected of them when they go on active duty as Air Force officers. |
