Show SU Indian Princess Pageant The second annual Southern Utah State College Indian Princess Pageant will be held this Friday at 7 p.m. in the SUSC Music Recital Hall. The Inter-Tribal Club, contest sponsors, extends an invitation for all interested persons to attend the pageant. There will be no admission charged. "Each girl will present a traditional number, such as a dance or song, which is representative of her tribe. She will also perform a modern-day or contemporary con-temporary talent number and answer questions asked by the three judges," Gary Tom, Indian-Intercultural Advisor, said. The princess will be crowned by Sallie Barlow, a Navajo from Shonto, Arizona, who was crowned Miss SUSC Indian Princess last year. The newly crowned princess will have the opportunity to represent SUSC in various Pow Wow's held in the west this coming year. The program will also include entertainment by other members of the SUSC Inter-Tribal Club and by the local Paiute people. Shirley Begay, a Navajo from Tuba City, Arizona, is the pageant chairperson. |
