Show ROBERT (DUNN) LEE Top Scorer & Rebounder By Jim Bayly At 6-5 he jumps like a deer and shoots as smooth as silk. After two and a half years at Southern Utah Robert "Dunn" Lee is starting to make a name for himself. He currently leads the T-Birds in scoring and rebounding with a 19.7 average and 10.4 rebounds a game. He also leads NAIA District Seven in scoring and is third in rebounding. 1 Dunn led the T-Birds in scoring last season with a 15.4 average and grabbed 8.1 rebounds a game. Against Ft. Lewis in a losing cause, Lee had 25 points and 17 boards. I "I guess I got my ability to jump and fight under the boards by playing at home with my brothers," said Lee when asked where he got his ability to jump. In the past Lee wasn't known for his defense, but this year he might be the most imrpoved defensive player SUSC has. "I just made up my mind if I wanted to be any kind of a ballplayer I had to play defense." Against defending NAIA national champ Grand Canyon Lee turned in as fine a performance as any SUSC player has had this year. He hit on 17 of 24 shots and hit two free throws for 36 points to go along with 12 rebounds. With games like that, pro basketball could be in the future for Lee. "I'd love to play pro basketball; it is my dream, but going to a small school could hurt. I'm still going to give it 1 all I've got," says Lee. I The T-Birds still have a long season ahead of them even 1 though they have played 11 games. , I "We have to keep up the enthusiasm as the season seems to get longer as the games go by," Lee said, "but if we get all our home games and split on road games we can have four or five losses and still win the conference." For Robert "Dunn" Lee and the Southern Utah State T- I Birds the future looks bright. J |
