Show Symphony Band presents Concert At 8 p.m. on May 12 the : SUSC Symphony Band will give their final concert of the year. Since their appearance at the Western MENC Con- vention in Salt Lake City the Band has received many commendations for their performance and state tour. Louis Wersen, former president of MENC, 60,000 active members, remarked, "This is one of the finest bands that I have ever heard." This final program of the year by the Band will be one of great variety. Several small ensembles will perform per-form including the SUSC Flute Quartet, a large clarinet ensemble, and the Clarinet Quartet. Several soloists will also be featured this evening. The band will perform several works which demonstrate a wide variety oi compositional lecnniques. Several movements of the Enigma Variations by Elgar will be performed. Other works include the Toccata Marziale by R. Vaughan Williams, Colossus of Columbia March by R. Alexander, and the Grand Serenade for an Awful Lot of Winds and Percussion by Peter Schickele. The Flute Quartet will be performing Quartet in E. Minor, opus 103. The clarinet ensemble will be playing a piece entitled Monocrome III by Peter Schickele. Divertimento for Clarinet Quartet by Alfred Uhl will be performed by the Clarinet Quartet. The public is invited. |
