Show LOOKING BACK Did you know That the man who looks straight ahead misses a lot on the side? JULY 1916 For all you onion lovers, here is a good old fashioned recip, listed in the 1916 Record. It is Baked Onion with Cheese. Peel and cut out in 2 inch slices, large white onions. Parboil in salted water, drain and arrange in buttered baking dish, dot with butter and bake until soft. Then sprinkle with salt and pepper and a layer of cheese. Return to oven long enough to melt the cheese. (I've tried it and it really is a very tasty dish ) JULY 1929 The Cedar Junior Baseball team went to Delta to play the Delta Post Junior team. They were defeated by a score of 7 to 3 in a very fast and well played game. Both teams played very well in the field, the Cedar boys losing because they could not get to hitting. Dwayne Bishop, pitching for Delta got most of the credit for the victory. Orville Wood, did a pitching job for Cedar. He helped his cause by getting two singles and scoring two of his team runs. Pete Fife was the batting star of the game. He got two triples and a double in four trips to the plate, scoring Cedar's third run after one of his triples, and brought Wood in with each of his other hits. JULY 1954 The Iron County 4-H Club members attended an annual camp at Duck Creek. Highlights of the camp each year are the campfire programs where each 4-H represented, presents a skit and songs with 1st, 2nd and 3rd places going to the various divisions of the skit. After 3 days of camping, the 4-H'ers then returned to their homes. by Dorothy Rogers |
