Show School Board approves hazardous route -Considered a proposal by Superintendent Clair Morris for future building needs and authorized him to begin a research for available sites. -Toured the new Enoch Elementary Elemen-tary School construction site to consider its readiness for the opening of school this fall. Efforts are being made according to Supt. Morris, to have classroom units ready for occupancy. oc-cupancy. -Denied a request from a representative of the bus drivers to further negotiate salaries for the coming year. After a lengthy discussion recommended that the bus drivers either determine to be represtented by the Association of Classified Personnel or that they plan to negotiate another year as an independent in-dependent group. 1 The Iron County School Board in their July meeting authorized that a hazardous bus route be established from what is known as "Grim-shawville" "Grim-shawville" to the new Enoch Elementary School. The request for the route was made by the Enoch PTA and was authorized only untilsuch time as a bike path can be constructed so that children will not have to walk onthe highway to and from school. Several bids were opened at the meeting. The bid by Dean Wilson of Salina to supply coal for the district was a awarded. Wilson was the low bidder of four who participated. Wilson bid 34.88 per ton for Browning coal and $27.55 for coal from another source. Canyonland Petroleum was also awarded the contract for supplying fuel oil for the East Elementary. The awarded price was 57.5 cents per gallon for No. 2 furnace oil. L & S Tire was the low bidder on garage services which included tire mounting, tire repairs, balancing and alignment. The board authorized the award of bids for the supplying of milk to Carter, Taylor and Baker for Cedar City Schools at 10.78 cents per half pint in Cedar City Schools. Bryner Wood was awarded the bid to supply milk to Escalante Valley and Dick Nowers Dist. will supply milk for the Parowan Schools. Tfie board set a special meting date for Thursday, July 26 at 5 p.m. at which time they will interview candidates can-didates for the principalshiop at the Cedar North Elementary. They also approved a change of the August date form Aug'ust 20 to August 21 to avoid a conflect with the Iron County Teacher's Institute. In other action the board: --established a new rate schedule for building to more adequately meet the needs of the public and the facilities being used. |
