Show i Dixie Flyers "Blitzkrieg" Redmen in 84-45 Run-away Victory The high powered scoring machine of Cedar City High School was shot down and stomped on Friday night by the Dixie Flyers. It was the second meeting of the two clubs and the Flyers, after losing the opening round battle in Cedar City tacked a stinging 84-45 loss on the Redmen record in the Dixie High gymnasium. The win by the Flyers evened the series at one all and will force a playoff for the Region 11 tiltle and a right to enter the State Class 3A tournament. The battle raged on an even basis for the first quarter of play with the Redmen collecting a bucket to take a 15-13 advantage at the end of the period. But, from that point on it was all Dixie. The Flyers led by Kim Staheli from outside and Bruce Hurst with sweeping hooks and fall-away jumpers, taking a commanding lead. In the second half of play it was just more of the same as the Flyers played near errorless ball to completely dominate the action. The Redmen, who normally are tough from outside, were cold hitting less than 35 percent from the field - they have averaged over 50 percent throughout the season. The two top scorers for the Redmen, Steve Hair and Brad Blackner had eight points between bet-ween them, Hair three and Blackner five, and the only Redman in double figures was harding working Charles Judd who had 10. It was complete domination with Staheli leading the way with 22 points. Hurst was close behind with 18 and Reber was also in double figures. |
