Show Church Assignment for Whipple Mr. Bybee has been regional development officer of-ficer for the Nevada-Southwestern Nevada-Southwestern Utah area since 1974. Before joining the Development Office,' he was an executive assistant and assistant general manager with Del E. Webb Hotels Corporation. He is a 1971 graduate of the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, and is married to Anna Kareen Traasdahl. He is second counselor in the presidency of the Nevada Las Vegas Mission. The LDS Church i Development Office was established in 1973 to develop financial support for LDS schools, health and welfare services, and special project. It is headquartered on the campus of Brigham Yung University, and includes a staff of twenty full-time fund-raising specialists. Mr. Bybee is one of eight full-time full-time regional development officers who serve, throughout the western U.S. in areas of significant LDS population. Reed Whipple, prominent business, civic and Church leader in Las Vegas and Southern Utah, has been appointed by the LDS Church First Presidency to serve as a volunteer fund-raising fund-raising advisor for the Nevada-Southwestern Utah area. Mr. Whipple will assist McClain Bybee, the area's full-time regional development officer, in attracting philanthropic support for LDS Church programs. "We are delighted to have a man of Mr. Whipple's accomplishments and reputation assisting us in our fund-raising efforts in Nevada and Southern Utah," said Donald T. Nelson, director of the LDS Church Development office. Mr. Whipple, now retired, was vice-president and manager of the First National Bank of Nevada. His civic service includes 20 years as Las Vegas City commissioner; Las Vegas mayor pro tern; past president, Boulder Dam . Area Council, Boy Scouts of America; and past president. Las Vegas .Lion Club. For five years he was president of the St. George Temple.He has also served as chairman of the Las Vegas Welfare Region and as a stake president and bishop.s He is presently patriarch of the Las Vegas Nevada Stake. |
