Show Special Olympics conducted at South Elementary In the spring all over America, Amer-ica, the Kennedy Foundation sponsors- a Special Olympics for children in Sipecial Education Educa-tion classes of all kinds. This year on May 19th the Iron County School District held Its first regional special Olympics Olym-pics under the direction of Tom Walker with 3 classes participating. There were five scheduled events with three divisions in each event.' They were the high jump, the 50 yard dash, the baseball throw, and the 440 yard relay race. Qualification events were held the week before the Special Spec-ial Olympics to insure that each child would be competing compet-ing with children of his own ability. The winners were: 50 yard dash 1st place Team 1, Kelly Morris; 1st place Taim 2, Michael Reese; 1st place Team 3, Brooks Ddl-ton; Ddl-ton; Team 4, Curtis Harring. Broad jumip 1st place Team 1 Kelly Morris; Team 2, Kevin Kev-in Wright; Team 3, Jodie Dut-ton. Dut-ton. High Jump 1st place Team 1, Shelley Eyman; Team 2, Phillip Ingram; Team 3, Nicole Nic-ole Muriford. Baseball throw 1st place Team 1, Scott Dover; Team 2, Susan Gurr, Team 3, Nicole Munfofd. The winning relay team consisted con-sisted of Robert Murdock, Jodie Dutton, Mark . Roberts, Scott Dover. The State Special Olympics was held in Salt Lake City on May 12-13. The National Special Olympics will be held this summer in Log Angeles, California. |
