Show Cedar City Native Honored on Retirement From Utah State Division of Health for her dedication and good work for the children in need f special services," said G. D. arlyle Thompson, M. D., Utah's Director of Health. A long-time associate of the Utah State Division of Health Mrs. Vera M. Gee was recently honored by her fellow employees. In recognition of her many years of outstanding service, Mrs. Gee received a certificate and personal letter let-ter from Governor Calvin L. Hampton. Mrs. Gee is a sister of Clair and Wallace Macfarlane of Cedar City. Mrs. Gee, Speech Pathology and Audiology Consultant, lcaves public service after 41 years, 2G being with the Division Di-vision of Health. Since 1938, Mrs. Gee has been working in the field of speech correction, initially with the University of Utah Extension Division. From September, 1912 to her retirement she served with the State Division of Health, starting as a corrective speech instructor with Crippled Children's Child-ren's Services. She has participated in many activities and organizations organiza-tions in her specialty, including includ-ing the 1950 White House Conference Con-ference on Children and Youth; the Executive Committee Commit-tee of the American Society for Hard of Hearing Children -Pacific Zone; the Utah State Board of Education, the Citizen's Cit-izen's Committee on Training find Care of Handicapped Children; and the American Speech and Hearing Association. Associa-tion. She is past president of the Utah Public Health Association, Associa-tion, and is now a member of the Executive Committee and Chairman of the Child Health Committee; past president, Utah Speech and Hearing Association, As-sociation, current member of the Eexcutive Committee, and Chairman of the Professional Ethics and Standards Committee; Commit-tee; Honorary Life Member and member of the Board of Managers, Utah Congress of Parents and Teachers, and Chairman of the Exceptional Child Committee; past secretary secre-tary and current member of the Executive Committee, Utah Council for Exceptional Children; and member of the Board of Directors and past directors, Family Service Society. So-ciety. In 1960, Mrs. Gee received the Utah State Employees Association As-sociation Public Service Award for 18 years of State service. In 1963, she received the award for Outstanding Female State Employee.
