Show tional Championship Snow-Shovel Snow-Shovel races. Best time for the clay was iposted by defending Champion Dill Thompson of Brian Head at 18.0 seconds (on a course timed by a downhill down-hill ski racer at 12.6 seconds.) The final heat was won by Georg Hartlmaier over Thompson, Thomp-son, Darryl Schramm and Ray Woods. Finishing last was Hart Whi taker of Richfield. All contestants vowed to return this Sat. Jan. 29th for the finals. fin-als. A great deal of interest has been generated over the snow shovel races and a large turnout is expected this weekend week-end for the finals. i . Winter Classic events successful; week to conclude slate The first week of events at the Color Country Winter Classic were termed a success bv all oarticipantu and spec- Head were started with the Pa rowan sponsored "Cross Country Snowmobile Races" which covered a distance of 12 tutors alike. Saturdays events at Brian Head Ski Resort sponsored by SUSC were highlighted with "open competition" slalom races and this event was won by Bill Ronnow with a time of 1 minute 13.2 seconds. The .most spectacular event of the day was the "Gelande" ski jumping contest which was won by Bob Mitchell with a jump of 79 feet and 7.7 points for form. The days activities were ended with a giant Torchlight Slalom Parade and fireworks at Brian Head lift No. 1. Sundays events at Brian miles from Midway to Brian Head. Teams of three racers in the 0-400 cc; 401-600 cc and 601-up cc sizes were assembled for the race. The first place team of Mike Higtbee, Rex Ahl-strom, Ahl-strom, and Gordon Bullock ran the course in 47 minutes 12 seconds. Second place was taken by Gaylon Heyborne, Clark Dennett and Clare Stocks. Third place went to Dennis Huntsman, Bud Greene and Allan Stones. Less than 1 minute 48 seconds separated j the first three teams.
