Show Cedar meets Eagles Friday in top region battle League Standings Cedar 4 1 Delta 3 1 Dixie 3 2 Hurricane 1 4 Millard 1 4 The Cedar High School Rcdmen, Rcd-men, atop the standings in the Region Eight AA Basketball race will take on Millard Eagles in action this week. After picking up a big road victory against the Dixie Flyers Fly-ers last week coach John Nielsen Niel-sen and his crew will be at home for this game in which they will be favored to retain their league lead. Tipofif time is set for 8 p.m. at the Cedar High School gymnasium. gym-nasium. It will be preceeded by a Junior Varsity battle between be-tween the two schools at 6:15 p.m. Delta drew the league bye last week and the win by Cedar over Dixie pushed the Redmen into a slim one-half game lead over Delta. Going into the week the three teams were tied for the league lead. ,to next week's encounter In other league action Delta will travel to Hurricane to meet the up and coming Tigers in a game that could be crucial to the final league standings. Hurricane last week downed Millard at Fillmore for their first league victory of the season. The Tigers appear ap-pear to be coming on strong, however, as they pushed Dixie at St. George the previous week losing by only two points. Dixie draws the league bye this week. For the Redmen they too must not look beyond Millard ti next week's encounter against Delta. Coach Nielsen will be pushing his crew to control the game from the outset out-set in an attempt to avoid an upset. The Redmen could be down a little this week after the big victory against arch rival Dixie last week and facing fac-ing a possible showdown next week in what is expected to be a battle for the Region title. |
