Show J Commencement week events instead of lying g thinly scattered through many days have been assembled ed this year as the calendar above shows into a reasonably brief period At the baccalaureate services Sunday evening the Seniors will win come to realize for the first time the dignity to which they have attained Monday June first will be a day of rest and preparation broken Ky ley the President I and Mrs Kingsbury's reception in the afternoon afternoon and ending fittingly fittingly fittingly fit fit- fit fit- tingly with the students' students ball in th the evening Tuesday Alu Alumni ni and Class Class day will be filled from mid forenoon until until late at night with the exercises of the graduating classes the reunions of old classes and the business meetings of the Gr Graduates Graduates' d ates' ates club and the Alum Alums Alumni ii i association ion On W Wednesday commencement Ol ri ri ement exercises will vill be held in the morning in the University gymnasium and t the le Alumni reception ball and banquet in the Odeon h hall 11 in the evening even even- ing Thursday field day at Lagoon will bring the week to a close The big days are Tuesday Alumni and Class day and Wednesday Wed Wed- Commencement day Tuesday will be long in hours but full of interest Upon the exercises for the day the two graduating classes are expending their best efforts The reunions s of the former classes will be the most elaborate ever undertaken ken The graduates students and their friends are expected to throng the grounds and buildings all day and that there may be no break in the gayety the University luncheon from twelve to two will be open to all who come COlne During the afternoon former classes classes' and the various University clubs and organizations will hold open house A brass band stationed on the grounds will furnish music throughout the day The graduating classes are determined to make the day dayI I the greatest of its kind in the history of the Univ University To make sure ure that that their plans shall be realized it but remains for the graduates to be present in large numbers Committees in charge of arrangements arrangements arrange arrange- ments are urging former classes to secure rooms in various parts of the University and to prepare to make these rooms their headquarters headquarters headquarters head head- quarters during the day The committees also urge that former fortner classes undertake to serve slight refreshments if no more Inore than a simple lemonade in these rooms during the afternoon It is hoped also that the day will vill see the beginning of a regular b scheme of class reunions With this in view yie classes which have been out three years six years ten years fifteen years and twenty V years vears years are urged especially to be present and to secure secure quarters in wl which ich they may hold open house If the various plans which have been laid work out the day will be by far the most interesting of t the e week The Commencement exercises which are to be held in the University University University Uni Uni- gymnasium will be preceded by the Commencement procession procession pro pro- cession which proved to be so successful last year The graduating ing classes will be the largest in the history of the University The ex exercises will will not be too long Holding the Alumni banquet and reception in Odeon Orleon hall is an experiment which will be watched with interest The reluctance with which the committee decided to take the exercises from the University grounds was mitigated somewhat by bythe bythe bythe the thought that Tuesday Alumni and Class day would give students students students stu stu- dents and graduates ample opportunity to show their warmth for their Alma Mater Holding Field day at Lagoon is also an experiment experiment experiment ment but will probably be a successful one In all the plans for for forthe the week the purpose purpose has been to draw drawas as many former students back to the University as possible All the exercises will be worth while and the arrangement is such that persons who vho are interested may attend whatever they may care to attend without loss of very much time The The week ought to tobe tobe tobe be exceedingly interesting I |
