Show School board approves personnel appointments Several personnel appointments appoint-ments and changes were approved ap-proved at the meeting of the Iron County School Board Monday. Personnel appointments for the current school year were listed as follows: Carolyn Cox as an aid at the North Elementary School to replace Donna Coolcy. Marilyn Webster as secretary secre-tary at Cedar High School. This fills the vacancy created i with the transfer of Sylvia Chamberlain to the district t offices. ! Appointments which will be ' effective for the 1970-71 school year were as follows: James M. Miller, assistant principal at Cedar High School. (See story in this issue is-sue of Record.) John Pensis as art instructor at Cedar High and assistant football coach. He will replace Jerald Tolman in the art department. de-partment. Darryl Mathews was named as band instructor for Cedar High School and in charge of the elementary band program in tiie Cedar City schools. Ho will also instruct in German at the high school. Don Reid was appointed on a one year basis, in the science sci-ence department at Cedai Junior High School. He will replace Steve Steffensen who was granted a year's leave of absence for additional schooling. school-ing. Other board action included approval of Ruth Sandoval as school nurse to succeed Alice Barton, who has recently retired. re-tired. Mrs. Sandoval has previously pre-viously been approved by the state health department and tiie Iron County Commission. Approval was granted Sharon Olsen of Cedar High School to attend the Western States Business Conference at Seattle, Seat-tle, Wash. March 25-28. Graduation dates for the county high schools were approved ap-proved by the board. Cedar High School exercises will be held May 27 and Parowan High exercises are slated May 28. In athletics, the board approved ap-proved a five week spring football training program at Cedar Junior High School for ninth graders. The sessions will be under the direction of Jim Marshall and Keith Stansworth. In addition an eight game football schedule for the junior varsity at Cedar High School was approved for fall 1970. Bids were opened at the meet for purchase of a 72 passenger pas-senger bus. The bid submitted submit-ted by Parkway Ford of Cedar City was accepted in the a-mount a-mount of $9977.65. Four other ! bids were received. The accepted ac-cepted bid calls for a Ford ! chassis an a Superior Body. Utilizing funds approved by the Utah Legislature in the special session in January the board authorized the estah lishment of a committee whose duty it will be to set up criteria for new teacher leadership program. Appointed Appoint-ed from the board to serve on the committee were Oscar J. Hulet and Dr. Garth Chatter-ley. Chatter-ley. Approval was also given to the change over to a single electrical metering system wherever practical in the district. dis-trict. It is expected that the system will effect savings to the district. Nine projects submitted for consideration by the dif-ferntial dif-ferntial committee of the district dis-trict were approved. Authorization was also given giv-en for the application for federal funds under Public Law 874 for im packed areas. The board further reviewed the access road into the Cedar High parking lot and reported that they are ready immediately immedi-ately to deed over 35 feet of right-of-way for the project.
